Old Fort Trail Work Weekend
The trails surrounding Old Fort are some of the best in WNC. Each year we like to show them some love. The OF Trail Work Weekend is a biannual event to maintain Kitsuma, Heartbreak Ridge, Snooks Nose, and many other trails in the Old Fort area. Volunteers can commit to one day or the whole weekend. We welcome any amount of time volunteers can contribute.
The Work Weekend is based at Camp Grier in Old Fort and camping, lodging, and a dinner Saturday night are free for volunteers. Oskar Blues provides free beer and this year Kitsbow is providing free tee shirts!!!!! Work starts in the morning and we leave plenty of time in the afternoon for a ride or a run. There's usually a shuttle or two provided for a lap on Kitsuma.
The 2020 dates are set for March 13-15 and November 20-22. Be sure to follow our Facebook page for updates on weather and schedule the week before each event.
Volunteers need to bring:gloves, closed toed shoes, breakfast, lunch and water bottles, clothing appropriate to be working outside, and camping equipment.
