Description
In the Treaty of 1763, King George III set a boundary between the Cherokee Nation and Colonial lands. When the Colonists migrated to the western grants that were given out, Samuel Davidson without a survey built his homestead on a part of the land that was given by treaty and rights to the Cherokee Nation. The young Cherokee Chief requested that the Colonists leave but his request was refused which contributed to the raid upon the Fort itself.
Davidson’s Fort Historic Park once again will present a reenactment of this significant event in the history of Western North Carolina just before the start of the Revolutionary War. The Cherokee attack on Davidson’s Fort would bring about the destruction of the Cherokee and allied Indian Towns and Villages forever changing the Cherokee Nation and Colonial way of life. Witness history from the past as it comes alive in this reenactment of Two Nations struggle on the frontiers of their borderlands.
