Old Fort Chamber Merges with McDowell Chamber
In July of 2020, the Old Fort Chamber of Commerce officially merged with the McDowell Chamber of Commerce creating a united effort to support and promote the businesses all across the county.
"Prior to the merger, the McDowell Chamber respected the jurisdiction of the Old Fort Chamber, while still serving our members there," said incoming Executive Director Kim Effler. "We are now better positioned to address the business needs of the whole county."
Effler previously served as the volunteer director for the Old Fort Chamber and was involved in discussions on how combining the two organizations could impact the entire business community. "More importantly, joining forces allows us to create alignment and direction for the betterment of the entire county," she added.
Old Fort has experienced commercial and residential growth in the last few years for its outdoor amenities, low property taxes, and proximity to Asheville. "We are ready to focus time and resources toward Old Fort," she said. "We are well aware of the current growth and economic development efforts in Old Fort and are excited to get to know the businesses and help position them for success."
The Chamber is proud to welcome the following Old Fort businesses into the Chamber Family!
