Miller Complex Flexes Its Muscles With New Gym
Clanking weights, bass-pumping tunes, and the occasional grunt are all welcome sounds at the McDowell Fitness Center (MFC) in the Larry D. Miller Business Complex. This full-service gym, owned and operated by Misty Morris and her husband William Morris (of Morris-Herron Heating & Cooling), provides everything from weight training and state-of-the-art equipment to crossfit and TRX Training.
The Chamber of Commerce recently held a Ribbon Cutting to commemorate the opening of the new business where Misty and William Morris gave our staff and local dignitaries a tour of the facility. The gym is outfitted with ample weights and equipment for large numbers of people to ensure customers don't have to wait in line. They encourage you to "Have a fit!" by getting fit in a way that best suits you.
If you know your way around a gym, the free weights are stocked so you can always reach your personal record for deadlifting, back squatting, or benching. Sign up for one of their spin classes held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. They also offer an high intensity boot camp on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. with box jumps, rope climbs, and more. MFC also has yoga classes.
McDowell Fitness Center is the fourth gym inside the Business Complex along with FAB Physique Training Studio, Inside Out Boxing & Fitness Club, and Titan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. According to staff trainer and manager Robert Washburn, the facility is staffed from open to close with several personal trainers to assist. They are flexible with their memberships allowing people to pay as they go with no contracts or enrollment fees.
Misty encourages the whole family to attend, "We welcome people of all fitness levels, even children," she said. So whether you are just embarking on your fitness journey or are an experienced powerlifter, MFC has what you need, she adds.
The Morris' believe in supporting local business and partnered with Miller Complex tenant, Pressley Made, to create dynamic graphics throughout the gym including their logo sign. "We are so pleased with her work," Misty said.
For those that are on the fence about making the move, MFC offers free trials where they will introduce you to the staff, the facility, and help you chart your fitness journey.
