Two Additional Cases of the Corona Virus in McDowell County
The McDowell County Emergency Operations Center COVID-19 released its latest situation report on March 27, 2020, showing an additional two (2) individuals testing positive for the Coronavirus.
According to the Foothills Health District, 87 people have been tested with 39 negative and 43 with still in the process testing. The two additional individuals were not identified but health officials are maintaining CDC protocol and investigatory guidelines to ensure proper handling.
Also included in the report was the announcement that restrictions are in place at Mission Hospital McDowell and all care facilities for visitors. All non-essential surgeries are canceled at Atrium and Mission Hospital McDowell.
As the community comes together to protect the public and provide support, good things are happening as well. McDowell Public Schools made more than 3,700 meals and served 16,022 meals last week. The City of Marion and the County have suspended water disconnections for those that are in jeopardy of shut off.
Childcare facilities are open for essential personnel only at this time for ages 5-12 at the YMCA. MHM is providing meals for the children. Duke Energy is also stepping up and is offering temporary power supply/service for temporary emergency service locations if needed and have suspended disconnections for nonpayment until further notice.
Local law enforcement is operating on its regular schedules.
