Before this year's 2nd Annual WNC Bigfoot Festival, visitors can enjoy an open-air screening of the 1987 classic Harry and the Hendersons starring John Lithgow sponsored by The Mountain Marquee Theater. Grab your lawn chair and bring the family to Marion for an evening of fun.
Saturday, September 14It Takes Big Feet to Fill These Shoes
Want to test your strength and speed against on of nature's most mysterious creatures? If so, join the Bigfoot Chase 5K kicking off Saturday's events at 8 a.m. Participants are encourages to register in advance for the a finisher medal, T-shirt, and a custom gift from The Makery in Downtown Marion. If you're lucky, maybe you'll catch the big guy.
Rolling Out The Red Carpet for Bigfoot
What better way to start off the WNC Bigfoot Festival than with a proclamation from Mayor Steve Little naming Bigfoot the City of Marion's official animal? Following the announcement, visitors can get a rundown of the day's activities.
Sasquatch Approved Fun
Browse through more than 190 vendor booths before taking the children to the Mountain Lake Realty Kid's Zone. Meet the host of the show "Finding Bigfoot," Cliff Barackman, and enjoy ons of other Bigfoot-themed activities.
Food For Ferocious Appetites
Whether you're looking for a funnel cake or something more Bigfoot-friendly—like meat on a stick—there's something for everyone in the Wells-Fargo Food Court. Looking for regionally-crafted dishes, small plates, and craft brews inspired by Bigfoot himself? Explore Downtown Marion's may restaurants and hotspots for an assortment of treats.
Bigfoot Calling Contest
Ten people registered for the Bigfoot Calling Contest will be randomly drawn to test their Sasquatch calls in front of an audience at noon. Winners will receive prizes from McLaughlin's Ribbons in Raleigh and Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park. The winner will be announced at 3:45 p.m. at the event's closing ceremony.
Bigfoot Town Hall
Ever spotted oversized footprints? Maybe your grandfather passed down a story about a hairy man who lived in the woods? Whatever your tale, visitors to the WNC Bigfoot Festival are encouraged to share their Sasquatch stories during this town-hall style event hosted by "Finding Bigfoot" star Cliff Barakman on the McDowell County Courthouse Lawn.
Sasquatch on the Silver Screen
Escape the heat of the day and enjoy Bigfoot Hollywood-style. Mountain Marquee Theater will show Paranormal Bigfoot from Virginia Filmmaker Bill Lancaster. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event.

Offsite Parking and Event Shuttling
Starting at 9 a.m.
With more than 30,000 people expected at this year's even, organizers have made sure that visitors can easily park at one of four satellite parking lots, located at McDowell Hight School, West McDowell Middle School, McDowell Technical Community College, and the Corpening Memorial YMCA, and ride a free shuttle to the festival.
