The McDowell Chamber of Commerce is eager to offer a top-of-the-line UTV in its 2021 Bigfoot Raffle fundraiser. Ticket sales go to fund scholarships for the Chamber's Student LINC (Leadership, Involvement, Networking, and Community) program graduates and are $20 per ticket or $100 for 6 tickets. McDowell County's 67,000 acres of National Forest attracts Bigfoot hunters from around the country with the annual Bigfoot Festival drawing thousands of enthusiasts. After all, our natural beauty provides the elusive legend plenty of places for hide-and-seek fun with avid fans.
What better way to hunt the hairy beast than on an Axis 500CC 4X4 UTV ($7,599 value) with the winner to be announced at Marion's Annual Bigfoot Festival on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 3 p.m. This go-anywhere UTV purchased from Lowes Home Improvement comes with an automatic CVT transmission, 4-wheel drive with locking differentials, independent A-Arm suspension and a list of standard accessories. Whether hunting for Bigfoot or working in the yard, you'll be impressed with its 471CC electronic fuel injection, 4-stroke engine, and 3,500-pound towing capacity.
"By designating these funds for Student LINC, we really can make an impact helping create leaders right here in McDowell County," said Tina Wolfe, Marketing & Communications Director for the Chamber. "This fundraiser supports education, a local community festival, and a local business." Last year the Chamber saw a 33% increase in scholarship funding and has set an ambitious goal of hitting $10,000 this year.
"Providing student LINC scholarships is our way of giving back to the community by investing in the future of a deserving McDowell County student," adds Kim Effler, Chamber Executive Director. "Providing scholarship awards is one of the highlights of my year! My hope in awarding scholarships is that by aiding in education costs, we inspire the next generation of employees, executives, and business owners."
