Summary & Responsibilities

The purpose of the Day Treatment Therapist is to meet the mental health needs for children and adolescents who are exhibiting problematic behaviors.Day Treatment Services are intensive school-based mental health services designed to reduce symptoms and improve level of social, emotional or behavioral functioning.


Job Duties include:

  • Create opportunity for consumer’s development of skills and replacement behaviors which can be practiced, applied, and continually addressed with treatment staff in a therapeutic and educational environment
  • Provide clinical services using evidence-based practices in a person-centered manner, including Admission Assessments and Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, as well as service planning, therapeutic intervention, related case support and documentation in clinical records
  • Monitor psychiatric symptoms in coordination with the appropriate medical care provider
  • Enhance consumers ability to communicate and solve problems. Provide psychoeducation and training to family, unpaid caregivers, and or others who have a legitimate role in addressing the needs identified in the Person-Centered Plan
  • Effectively use clinical and administrative supervision to improve the quality and performance of services for the consumers and the organization


Education and Experience Required:

  1. A master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or related field.
  2. At least one (1) year experience with the child mental health population.
  3. Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and organizational skills.


Licensure/Certification Requirements: LCSW, LCSWA, LPC, LPCA, LCAS, LCASA, LMFT, LMFTA
