We are seeking eager, decisive and attentive industrial sewing machine operators for our new Old Fort, NC factory. In this role, you will work as part of a team creating and assembling outdoor gear, such as backpacks. To see examples of our products we encourage you to check out our website. In addition to operating machinery, you will learn solid construction and design principles.
While we prefer applicants who have prior sewing experience, we also welcome individuals who are eager to learn something new. This position provides opportunities to think outside the box, to provide feedback and propose new ideas to production supervisor
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Correctly position items under needles using marks on machines, patterns, clamps, templates, or cloth as guides
Operate sewing machines to guide materials parts under machine needles and presser feet to sew parts together
Mount attachments, such as needles, blades, or pattern plates, and adjust machine according to specifications
Adhere to TAD guidance on sewing technique, patterns, designs, and overall production and product assembly
Measure materials for accuracy and inspect garments for defects or damage and make repairs as necessary
Perform routine equipment maintenance and report problems of machine malfunctions
Comply with safety rules, directions, and company procedures including reporting of policy violations
Meet or exceed consistent daily and weekly output and quality goals
General facility, station, equipment cleaning and upkeep
Other duties as assigned
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Preferred Knowledge, Abilities, and/or Skills:
You are a problem solver who is adaptable and flexible
You have a desire to learn and develop new sewing skills
You have an eye for quality and an exceptional attention to detail
You are excited about growing with a new operation and being a part of a dynamic working environment
A plus if you have working knowledge of sewing machine mechanics
Ability to be successful working with a team as well as being able to self manage
You have a passion for sewing or working with your hands to create something new
You have a basic knowledge of mathematics and the ability to read a tape measure
You have a minimum of 1-year experience in operating Industrial Sewing Machine (eg: Juki, Pfaff, Durkopp etc.)
Physical Requirement, Working Conditions, Tools and Equipment Utilized
Outstanding eyesight or utilization of corrective measures to: mark products, inspect equipment and materials
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
Ability to manually sew, cut, fold, control materials, twist knobs, use tools, use sewing machine controls
Repetitive movements such as: bending, twisting, pushing fabric, and operating a foot pedal
Environment can be noisy at times
Examples of tools and equipment utilized: bobbins, portable electric fabric cutters, rotary fabric cutters, quilting rulers, scissors, single and double needle sewing machines, bar-tacking machine, pattern markers, and more
