Duties and Responsibilities

Hours: Mon - Fri 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM.

This job will be primarily responsible for custodial duties at the McDowell County Facilities, which includes the Board of Elections and Administrative Offices. Employees are expected to clean and keep all premises/buildings in an orderly manner by providing custodial and janitorial services. Duties will consist of but are not limited to the following, keeping buildings clean and orderly by performing a combination of custodial activities in assigned areas. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of floors by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Wash interior surfaces of buildings such as walls, ceilings, windows, etc. using appropriate supplies and equipment. Empty waste receptacles and dispose of refuse. Dust and polish furniture. Perform related duties such as loading and unloading equipment and supplies from vehicles; moving furniture in rooms for special functions or meetings. Perform outside duties such as washing windows, sweeping walks, shoveling snow, and picking up trash. Provide immediate supervision for Community Service workers in performing structured but not routine work.

Minimum Requirements
Effective Communication Skills
High School Diploma or GED
Valid NC Driver's License


Desirable Training and Experience
Experience in basic custodial/janitorial duties preferred.
